Pearl Gunpowder

To this day, this Pearl Gunpowder is processed according to the ancient tradition. The tea is plucked, dried and hand-rolled to produce this signature gunpowder shape. Why? Oral history in Yunnan maintains as far back as the golden age of pirates how this gunpowder tea saved a village. Pirates landed and demanded food, drink and ammunition. The villagers supply the items except for the ammunition. Instead, they gave the pirates kegs of black gunpowder tea. When the pirates sailed off, knowing they would return when finding the kegs full of tea, the village obtained help from the nearby garrison. In the cup, the tea is bright and golden, with hints of earth and mild astringency.
